Join us, Saturday June 15, for a great event with a GREAT cause.  Reid Park Zoo and Craft Tucson is hosting "Brew at the Zoo" to help build funds for a new Brown Beer habitat.  I am so excited!  This will be an awesome addition to the Reid Park Zoo, which is one of our favorite places to visit with the many exhibits and animals that bring us a little closer to the animals. 

Jun 15, 2013 6-9 p.m.

While you are there you can walk around in the cooler AZ temperatures, see the animals, and sample some great Brewing Company's with Craft Beers.

Nature Stories at Agua Caliente Park
What: Listening to stories is a wonderful way for children to learn about the natural world around them. Join us for a story reading at the park, followed by an art activity. This program is a partnership between Pima County Natural Resources and Tucson Audubon Society.

Saturday Sonoran Desert Weedwackers What: Join the Sonoran Desert Weedwackers to eradicate buffelgrass and fountain grass in Tucson Mountain Park. Outdoor Family Days: Ranching Traditions in the Southwest What: Experience southwestern ranching traditions with a family outing to Florida Canyon Research Station. Tour the grassland habitat on a working ranch and visit with local ranchers to learn about ranching practices past and present. Families with children ages 5-12. Reservations required.

Where: We meet at the UA Florida Station, Santa Rita Experimental Range, and visit the ranch thereafter. Directions to meeting location provided with reservation.

Tour of Hacienda de la CanoaWhat: Join a walking tour of the Canoa Ranch headquarters to gain insights into the fascinating stories of the people that lived and worked on the ranch.  Birding at Sweetwater WetlandsWhat: Tucson’s Sweetwater Wetlands is one of the premier birding spots in Arizona. As spring progresses the wintering ducks change into breeding plumage. Migrating warblers and shorebirds pass through as breeding kingbirds, flycatchers, and warblers return. This leisurely walk on easy trails is led by birding expert Mary Ellen Flynn. Reservations required

Butterfly Magic at the Gardens
What:  Walk through an amazing living exhibit where exotic butterflies fly by and even land on you! See the stages of metamorphosis in front of your eyes!  We have not attended yet, but I have heard it is amazing!  We are going to be taking our family this weekend!

Time: 9:30 am to 4pm daily

The Secret Garden
What:  This enchanting classic of children's literature is reimagined in brilliant musical style by composer Lucy Simon and Marsha Norman, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of 'Night Mother. Orphaned in India, 11 year-old Mary Lennox returns to Yorkshire to live with her embittered, reclusive uncle Archibald and his invalid son Colin. The estate's many wonders include a magic garden which beckons the children with haunting melodies and the "Dreamers", spirits from Mary's past who guide her through her new life, dramatizing The Secret Garden's compelling tale of forgiveness and renewal.

What: GARDEN GECKOS Our new early childhood parent/child program begins this spring. Garden Geckos is a program meant to introduce young children to the wonders of the natural world through exploration at Tucson Botanical Gardens. Each week will include outdoor time as well as a variety of activities including stories, crafts, songs and more. Program fees are for the entire four-week series and include one child (2-5 years old) and one parent. Join us for an hour of fun in the Gardens!  Learn about the wonderful world of bugs, including butterflies, spiders and worms, through hikes, games, stories and other activities
