I had said that I would go a little more into the three types of Dosha for Ayurvedic Medicine. The three types consist of Pitta, Vata, and Kapha. Pitta are those individuals that seem to be excessively hot. Vatta are ones that have a tendency to be more restless than others. While Kapha types will be more lethargic.
So what does that mean?
Once you know your "Dosha" you can change the diet accordingly for optimal health.
If you find that you are more a "Pitta", you are a person with good digestion and metabolism. The fire in the process of digestion has a lot to do with the fire even in the personality of the person. They are known for a warm friendly manor and qualities of leadership. Pitta governs your digestion, assimilation, absorption, nutrition, temperature, and many other things. Pita give you vitality, ability to learn, and understanding. When Pitta is off balance it can cause physical and Psychological problems, like anger, negative emotions, criticism, hair loss, ulcers, heartburn, and skin problems. Knowing if you are a Pitta Dosha can be helpful by making sure you are in good physical and physiological balance.
Vata is the element of wind, to flow, move, or command. What that means is energy of wind and movements through the body and mind. Vata is the movement of mind and body responses. The contraction of muscles, breathing, pulse, blood flow, and every other movement. Vata also has a big playing in feeling like fear, anxiety, and nervousness. If vata is not balanced then you can also have physical and physiological effects like constipation, high blood pressure, anxiety, dry skin, insomnia, and cramps. You can cause an imbalance by staying up to late and eating before your last meal has been digested.
Kapha is known as water and energy of the body. Kapha is the glue that holds the body together. Your Kapha is all liquid parts of the body from blood, nose, stomach, sinuses, mouth, chest, joints, and mucus. Its main source of energy is the chest region. Your emotions effects by Kapha are calmness, forgiveness, love, envy, greed, possessiveness. Balanced physical effects can be great endurance, strength, calm and even speech. When out of balance you can suffer to be lethargy, weight gain, and allergies.
You can look into finding your stronger dosha and then you will know how to balance it.
I learned two new excellent dishes from my very good friends who are teaching me their culture and preparation of foods.
Cauliflower Dish
1 head of cauliflower into florets
1 cup flour
1 tbsp corn starch
1/2 tbsp pepper
1/4 tsp salt
water
3 cups canola oil
First separate cauliflower into florets and boil briefly for 7 minutes. Drain water and cool. For batter pour flour into bowl and add corn starch, pepper, salt and enough water at a time until you have a thin paste, it resembled ranch dressing to me. Also had oil heating in a wok. Pour cauliflower into batter and cot evenly. Then take coated cauliflower and fry until slightly brown. Its a great taste if looking for something vegetarian and Delicious.
For the sauce, she took 1 onions and sauteed in pan. Then added 1/2 cup tomato sauce, 1/2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp vinegar, and 1 tbsp red chili paste. Then added fried cauliflower to this sauce and coated evenly. It was amazing Delicious.
It is fried which I like to minimize, but everything in moderation.
Have a Blessed and Healthy day!
