Nutrition New: GMO's and Michigan Pig Farm

GMO's are really starting to burn my buttons!!!
I viewed a video yesterday that really put what GMO's are into an easy light.  You will see how GMO will slowly take over crops, even those of small farmers, and in a away are ability to have natural choices.  The GMO crops are not contained and are slowly but diligently crossing into surrounding crops.

90% of GMO takes place in America's!  That is an alarming amount.  One reason I view GMO's as dangerous, is the chemicals used in making them more resistant to Pest and Weeds.  Keep in mind that studies have shown that GMO crops are no more resistance than Farmers that are non GMO.  Nature is strong and adapts so chemicals, and that is why they have to be increased to keep the pest and weeds at bay.  These toxic chemicals are getting into our soil and water.  Live beneficial organism are in soil that help make plants nutrient quality.  These natural organism are being destroyed through the use of GMO's.

A large percentage of GMO crops go to feeding livestock for consumption.  One thing to keep in mind is that science does not know what affect the GMO's will have on human and livestock down the road.

GMO's are not just used as crops environmental resistance but also in medicine.  You can see more on this in Nutritional News, GM in Kansas.

Michigan authorities force farmers to massacre baby pigs cold blood - RT America
An Organic Hormone Free Pig Farm was told if they did not shot their own pigs, they would shut the farm down.   The state of Michigan  accused this farm of having FERAL pigs.  The definition of a feral pig is a running free outside of fences- wild pigs.  These pigs have a organic diet, are allowed to run around in the sun and fresh air.  This to me is a better life before slaughter.  At the end of the video you will see what is allowed by government for the housing and treatment of pigs that are used for OUR consumption.  (Granted this shot was in cleaner facility than I have previously seen.)

I could not post the article because it was too graphic.  ALL the pigs in this video were killed.  If you would like to read the article you can go to Natural News

  1. This is absolutely disgusting that this is happening, especially in America! I am not dumb and I know a lot of bad things happen here, but I wish Americans had higher standards! It is scary to think that GMO's can get into pretty much anything...It's good to be informed, but to not be fearful. I choose to take this info and make informed decisions! Thanks for sharing!

  2. This is disgusting! I hate that we need laws to protect us from ppl who aren't so honest because those laws always end up doing something stupid like with the pigs!
No wonder Autism and cancer is on the rise...

  3. Sad and awful. Those pigs run wild here in north Texas and people shoot them all the time b/c they are messing with their land and crops. Still sad though.

    1. Yes, Kim the Law would have been justified in that case, but these pigs were restricted in fences. They never roamed to other properties or lands. They were contained to roam free within farm fences, think of cattle on large properties. That is what makes this a tragedy and waste. Thank you for stopping by! You are right, it is a very sad situation.

    1. We need better advocates that protect farmers. It is like all the rights go to BIG Corporates and leave farmers vulnerable. They have a right to grow clean animals and crops, but they really don't. It is sad.

  5. That is just awful! I like how they compared it to cattle being kept in a fence. or free roam chickens. Ugh... I am sorry I would rather have a pig that was a part of a few and able to run around instead of one herded in a feed lot and given hormones any day!

    1. I am not a big meat eater anymore, but I feel better when I think the animal had a life before the end. Those that have to live completely indoors, or crammed up against others, and living in their own filth makes me sick. Unless they are farm raised, I stay away.

  6. I hate GMO's. They contaminate even organic foods! Grrrr...GMO food can be hard to avoid, it is everything. 98% of the soybeans and 84% of the corn are GMO in the USA! Crazy! I love the first video. I watched it a few days ago!

    1. I know, I get so upset when I think of the problem this is going to be in 5-10 years. Organic is going to be a think of the past and they will have to start growing it in doors. Cross contamination is becoming pretty common as well. You can not contain the seeds and effects in soil and water. Thanks for stopping by Good Girl Gone Green I love you blog!
