BPS is the new BPA?

Once again you have to read, read, read the labels.

Just looking for BPA FREE is no longer a guarantee you will be free on the toxic chemicals.  While the plastic in question might actually be BPA free it might still be toxic,  Bisphenol, only now BPS.  BPS is no safer than BPA!  It is still the same toxic plastic, but the only thing that has changed is a letter.

BPA has been linked to cancer, birth defects, and heart disease.  It has been found in baby bottles, water bottles, Tupperware, baby and children toys, even children's dental filling and sealants.  I know recently I looked for the BPA FREE seal when shopping for a girlfriends upcoming baby.  Now I need to look for BPS as well.  When will marketing and labeling be honest and easy again?

"The health effects of BPS have been studied less than with BPA, but a growing body of additional research indicates that BPS is an artificial estrogen just like BPA, with clear potential for carcinogenic effects and damage to reproductive health."~~Alliance for Natural Health.  You can read more on this here.

  1. I just heard about this. It is very overwhelming how much work you need to do to keep on top of everything to stay away from toxins. I'm not sure how BPS is different from BPA chemically, do you have any more details?
