Scientist warn that GM wheat may destroy your liver.

I received an alert email this morning from NaturalNews.com that scientist warn that eating GM wheat may destroy your liver. They also go on to say that this could be especially dangerous to children and infants whose parents ate GM wheat.  This is something to take serious and really look into.  You have to look at all the information on both sides and make your decisions.  You have seen in past post that I believe GMO foods to be a risk to our health.  I believe that food should be left natural and unaltered by science. I get so frustrated that something is put out in the market saying it is safe and effective, and then a couple years later showing to have greater, damaging, effects to our health.  When are we going to stop being their test panel?  I want medicines and GM foods to have to go through a rigorous testing for cancer, birth-defects, fertility issues, and such before giving out to the public.

I have included two videos both under 10 minutes, but take the time to listen to them.  It could mean the difference to health or illness.  Also, at the bottom are additional links for further reading.

"Heinemann has published an eye-opening report that details this warning and calls for rigorous scientific testing on animals before this crop is ever consumed by humans. The enzyme suppressor in the wheat, he says, might also attack a human enzyme that produces glycogen. Consumers who eat genetically modified wheat would end up contaminating their bodies with this enzyme-destroying wheat, causing their own livers to be unable to produce glycogen, a hormone molecule that helps the body regulate blood sugar metabolism. This, in turn, would lead to liver failure."~~NaturalNews.com

"We found over 770 pages of potential matches between these two genes in wheat and the human genome," he continued. "We found over a dozen matches that are extensive and identical, and sufficient to cause silencing in experimental systems. The findings are absolutely assured. There's no doubt that these matches exist. ...from this information, we know that it's plausible there will be an adverse effect and therefore that's why we're calling for a particular battery of experiments to be done before humans eat this wheat."~~NaturalNews.com

GM wheat is not on the market right now, but GM corn among other crops are.  The corn was modified to be more pest and weed resistant for more crop production.  I can understand why this would be import, but not at the risk of peoples lives.  See article on GM corn kills cows, and how they lied and tried to cover it up!

"why are you being kept in the dark about the dangers of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and the fight against Proposition 37?  Despite the massive amount of research linking genetically modified foods to environmental and human dangers, giant corporations are shelling out millions and millions of dollars to ensure that GMOs are not labeled in the food market. Why are Americans and others being kept in the dark?"Nation of Change.

WE NEED TO HAVE A VOICE!
We need to vote.  This affects everyone and the vote37 in California will set the pace for the rest of the US.

As of June 2012 over 20 states have introduced legislation to require labeling of foods that may have GMO ingredients is some way or form.  The bills are requesting:
  • Foods that contain GMO ingredients be labeled as containing genetically modified food.
  • Foods coming on the market that are wholly themselves GMO , like corn, soy, and salmon, be clearly labeled as such.
  • That marketing on GMO foods stop using "Natural", "naturally grown", "naturally made", and such to stop misleading consumers.

When our trainer first heard the bellowing, he thought our pregnant heifer may be having a calf or something,” said Abel. “But when he got down here, virtually all of the steers and heifers were on the ground. Some were already dead, and the others were already in convulsions.”
"Within 15 hours of this incident, all of the cattle had died as a result of the grass ‘suddenly’ producing cyanide and therefore throwing them into a lethal fit. Shouldn’t you have the right to know what’s in your food?
Proposition 37 is our best shot at mandatory GMO labeling laws – not only for California, the eighth largest economy in the world, but for the entire nation.
We need your help to pass this law in November, to tell Monsanto and other corporations that we will no longer be forced to consume their GMOs simply because they won’t label them.
If you haven’t yet pitched in, please click here to make a donation today.

We need your help today to raise $500,000 for Proposition 37, the California Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act. Your donation will go directly toward winning the campaign in California this year.
Let today be the day!

What are your thoughts?   Are you concerned with the amount of cover ups, deaths, and illnesses of foods that are being feed to us and our livestock?

  1. Another thing to be sickened over. As if the hybridized dwarf wheat available in this country isn't bad enough.

    1. I know I get a sick feeling every time new information come out and more coverup! I am hoping we have some nice changes to protect and make informed decisions.

    1. Thank you for reading Jennifer. It is actually something that most like to keep out of the news and papers. I am glad that more people are looking into this and becoming informed :-)

  3. It is getting way too scary to even think about going grocery shopping without doing your research first.

    1. I agree! I have a couple apps on my phone that help me know who are the GMO companies, who are NonGMo, and such. I also have to look up toxins, because there is no way I can remember them all. It is tricky and over whelming at times to shop in the stores.

  4. We seriously have the right to know if it is a GMO food. This is part why I grow my own foods for the most part. You cant trust what is out there.

    1. You are a step ahead of most. We need to go back to growing our own food, and get as creative as we can with the amount of space we have.

  5. I think this is something everyone needs to know about! Why do they think people do not have the right to know what they are eating?

    1. It is sad but I think it boils down to marketing and money. The crops need to be more productive with the least amount of work and money put into it....so they engineer a seed to be resistant to weeds and pest. While the studies show this to work, there is evidence of health risk to the livestock they made it for. Now we have corn being sold at supermarket that is GMO and people are eating it! They have no idea because we have fallen into a false security of everything in the store is good for us or they would not have it on the shelf. Because we have been altering the make up and the processing of our food we are resulting in an increase to disease and illnesses. We NEED to get back to natural unaltered raw foods and preparing them at home the way grandma use too. YES it takes more time and work, but look what being convenient and lazy has gotten us.

  6. WOW, I can't believe they went into modifying wheat too! Will they ever realize they just need to let our food be NATURAL! As that is the healthiest for us anyway!

    1. I agree Amber! They need to stop playing science lab with our food! Didn't their mom every tell them not to play with your food? I know mine did :-)

  7. Ok, here's the thing, the farmer is FORCED to use this seed. To become certified organic, you have to jump through so many hoops, pay so much per year, and the taxes on your land are higher than if you use the Monsanto Monster seeds. The industry has made it so difficult to not use the GMO's seeds, that the farmer most times can either use it, or let his family starve because his crop isn't right. If you farm within a certain milage of a person who uses the seed, YOU have to use the seed, or the seed company can come out, sue you for destruction of product, and take everything you own. By using a different seed, the GMO seed can reproduce with the normal seed, and the company can and will sue you for cross contamination. I've dealt with this the last 10 years. To stop this, you have to bring down the seed companies, not hurt the farmer who is only trying to feed his family and make a living.

    1. Yes, I agree the Farmers are up against a wall at times, and it is very hard on them. I feel that the farmers have very little options and rights right now, it is a very sad state. What I am hoping will happen, is that the GMO labeling will pass and then the GMO seed companies will have no buyers. Companies are not going to want to have GMO on their labels and will stop buying those seeds. Allowing the farmers to go back to conventional and organic crops, the ones they used before GMO.
I completely feel for all farmers both organic and conventional because the FDA has a very tight leash on both! Cross contamination is a very real and happening problem, that is why they have to stop using these GMO seeds. I understand the pain that farmers have to struggle to use these seeds and provide for their families, but it does not change the fact that there are horrible outcomes to these seeds and the products grown using GMO.

    2. It's so awful how good people who are just trying to make a living are forced to do things they don't want to do, but can't change because they don't have the means. It's really a shame.

  8. Fantastic post Kelley! I do not like the idea of GM foods at all. I remember when they first came out with this years ago and it was totally freaky! Now I don't think the majority of people even think about it. I like my food as natural as possible too! That's the way God made it ;)
    Blessings!

  9. It frustrates me that agriculture and government are so tight in this country. Forget separation of church and state (ok, not really, lol) - what about separation of agriculture and state! Nothing good has resulted from the combination of the two.

  14. It's so hard to determine what is natural and what isn't anymore! It's getting ridiculous.
